Responding to the Needs of Internationally Educated Immigrants and Refugees Needs
Success Skills Centre has been recognized as a Manitoba pioneer and innovator in promoting and assisting internationally educated Immigrants and refugee to get back to their careers and full-time jobs as quickly as possible. Right from the start, our not-for-profit community-based Centre developed and has continued to deliver unique, gap career programs, employment training modules, internships and work experience placements geared solely to professionals and skilled workers. The Centre’s unique service models have been designed to save participants precious time, money and grief by helping accelerate the process to get into their trained occupations sooner, rather than years later, or never.
Often we hear from our participants that they are advised to repeat all their training again, or get a Canadian certificate, or to forget and to change occupations, or just take any survival job, all leading to discouragement and disillusionment. Our Centre fills that vital niche to stop the naysaying, by providing expert advice and guidance from highly qualified career training and labour market specialists, for both short and long term related career outcomes, and help participants tackle credential recognition issues, to obtain related work experience, mentorships and internships. We don’t believe in seeing participants’ talents and experience wasted. Nor do we like to see government waste so many training dollars when there are better ways of getting talented resources on track. Immigrants come to Canada in order to work in Manitoba’s high demand jobs and to establish a new life for themselves and their families, and we want to help them do just that.
